Things You'll Need:
- 1/2 bunch coriander/cilantro
- 1/4 bunch mint leaves
- 1/2 onion
- Salt
- Green chillies (2)
- Ginger (1/4 inch)
- 1 clove of Garlic
- Food processor
-
Step 1
Assemble all the ingredients needed to make the dip. Most of these ingredients are those you will find in your pantry. The coriander and mint leaves can be found in the produce section of your supermarket or in the farmers market. Do make sure they are fresh.
-
Step 2
Do make some changes to the ingredients depending upon your requirement of the taste. This is traditionally made on the hotter side with 3 to 4 green chillies. However, if you want to use it as a mild dip, then even 1 green chili would do.
-
Step 3
Remember to go from low to high on the amount of spice and salt that you require. Since all of this goes into the food processor, you can add more spice and salt if needed.
-
Step 4
Once you assemble all the ingredients, making the dip is as simple as putting them all in the food processor and grinding them to a pasty consistency.
-
Step 5
In this dip, its the onion that binds all of the ingredients, hence if your dip is too thin, then adding a bit more of the onion into the food processor will improve the consistency. Grated coconut can also be used as an addition in very moderate amounts (1 tablespoon) to improve the texture of the dip. However, this is totally optional.
-
Step 6
Once the basic dip is made, now you can take a portion of the chutney and be on your way to experimenting even more!
