Things You'll Need:
- Computer with Internet access
- Printer
- Drivers license or other government-issued ID
- Envelope
- Stamp
-
Step 1
Check the registration requirements for your state. Most states have mail-in voter registration, but if you live in New Hampshire or Wyoming you will have to register in person.
-
Step 2
Print and fill out the National Mail Voter Registration Form. Print clearly, and double check that your address and name are spelled correctly so you don't have any problems at the polls on election day.
-
Step 3
If you are registering to vote for the first time, make a photocopy of a state-issued photo ID that has your address on it, such as a driver's license. Put the Registration Form and the photocopy in an envelope and mail it to the address listed for your state's election office. In most states you need to be registered to vote at least 30 days before an upcoming election, so be sure to get your registration in the mail early enough.
