If your last visit to the dentist did not go over so well, do not despair. A number of people who get cavities or have subpar check-ups often claim that they do not have enough time to brush and/or floss every day. Enough with the weak excuses... this article shows you how to thoroughly clean your teeth and gums in only five minutes. Consistently stick with this routine, and your dentist will be amazed at how much brighter your smile is at your next appointment!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Stopwatch
  • Listerine
  • Floss
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Mouthwash
  1. Step 1

Begin timing yourself on a stopwatch. For thirty seconds, lightly brush your teeth and gumlines without any toothpaste. Remember to get both the fronts and backs of your teeth.

  2. Step 2

For sixty seconds, rinse your mouth with listerine. As you are (aggressively) swishing back and forth, prepare for the rest of the routine: take out a string of floss, get the toothpaste on your toothbrush, and pour a small cup of mouthwash.

  3. Step 3

After spitting out the listerine, floss for ninety seconds. Be sure to make contact up and down the sides of each tooth (not just getting in between), and get down into the gum lines as well. If everything is sensitive for the first week or so (or if you get some bleeding from the gums), that means you have not been flossing well enough!

  4. Step 4

Now that everything has been cleared out, brush for sixty seconds. Make soft, circular motions, and remember once again to get both the fronts and backs of your teeth. Pay special attention to the gumlines as well.

  5. Step 5

To finish things off, rinse with mouthwash for sixty seconds. Your mouth should feel almost overwhelmingly fresh by this point, and that is because you have done nearly everything possible to clear out lingering pieces of (often sugary) food and eliminate plaque build-up. When you are done, spit out the mouthwash, look into the mirror and smile!
