Following this simple instructions will create about four cardboard chairs. Please be aware that these chairs are not able to support a lot of weight as the material used is simple cardboard.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Duct Tape (1-2 rolls)
  • Large Cardboard Boxes (about 4)
  • Scissors
  • Exacto-Knife
  • Staples and Stapler
  1. Step 1

Make an outline of the sides of the chair, using the picture as a guide. In order to ensure its ability to support weight, you will need to made about four sides-- two for each.

  2. Step 2

With the space left over on the uncut cardboard, you will now need to cut strips like seen in the picture. Again, the more that you create, the more weight the chair can hold.

  3. Step 3

Now, take two chair sides and using the duck tape, stick them together. To make sure that the chair is firmly held together, take the stapler and staple about the edges of the side. Repeat for the other side as well.

  4. Step 4

Taking the exacto-knife, you will now need to cut holes for the slots into the chair sides. Make sure that they are wide enough to take the slots, but still small enough to make sure that the cardboard stays secure.

  5. Step 5

Take the slots and secure them together using the duct tape. Once they are bundled, you will then insert them into the newly cut holes in the sides. Add duct tape to the joining points if the chair feels too flimsy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Scale is determined by the creator.
  • The bigger you make it, the more cardboard and added support is needed to make it functional.
  • Chair may not be able to support weight.
  • Cardboard is hard to cut through, take extra caution when using scissors and exacto-knife.
