Tapestry's have been considered as a sewing art for many generations. People in the Colonial days and Victorian era were taught to sew from a very young age. Animals,birds,wildlife and flowers are very popular in a tapestry.

Things You'll Need

  • Tapestry pattern
  • Tapestry yarn
  • Tapestry cloth
  • Tapestry Needle
  • A design
  • Decorative Frame

Instructions

    • 1

      Pick out the design that you would like to sew on the tapestry. Cut the cloth with scissors to the size you would like to frame plus add a 1 1/2 inch border to the size.

      Then copy the design carefully onto the tapestry cloth with a permanent black marker.

      Pick out all the colors of yarn that you need. The yarn should be bright and rich. The yarn should be of good quality. Begin at the bottom and work your way up.. Stitch the pattern in a continental stitch with the yarn and a tapestry needle changing colors as needed until finished.

      Frame the tapestry in a nice decorative frame. You now have a beautiful wall hanging you can be very proud of.
