Step 1
Park your vehicle in a safe place for you to install diamond tire chains and engage your parking break.
-
Step 2
Find out whether your car is front wheel drive or rear wheel drive. If it is front wheel, you will install the diamond tire chains on the front wheels, if it is rear wheel you'll install them on the rear. If your vehicle is all wheel drive, install them on the wheels that have the most weight over them. This will most likely be the front wheels because of the engine.
-
Step 3
Take the chain and slide it around to the inside of the tire. Have the ends face towards you.
-
Step 4
Grab the ends and bring them to the top of the tire and hook them together.
-
Step 5
Now take the hooks on the chains at the top of the tire and hook them together.
-
Step 6
Check to make sure everything is hooked and connected. Then adjust the tension by using a bungee cord or a tensioning chain that may have been included with your chains.
-
Step 7
Drive forward 15 feet and make sure everything is tight. Adjust the tension if needed.
