Comparing credit cards can be a hefty task if you don't have the right tools. There are several online sites that help you save time and possibly money by allowing you to search all the different types of credit cards in one location. You don't have to search a hundred sites to compare credit cards these days.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet connection
  1. Step 1

The first and probably most popular site is Bankrate.com, they are well experienced in the financial sector. On Bankrate.com you can find just about any financial information you are looking for. The first step in comparing a credit card is finding out what kind of card you want. Do you want airline rewards, hotel rewards or just a low interest rate card? Click on the Credit Cards tab on the Bankrate site to get started. If you click on search for credit card type it will show you the most popular card in each category. From there you can click on the card information to learn more. Once you find a card you like just follow the link to the merchant’s site to order your new card.

  2. Step 2

Another site for comparing credit cards in RiverOffers.com. River Offers has become a leading online credit card marketplace, bringing consumers and card issuers together, it is similar to Bankrate except the search is a little easier to use than the Bankrate site. The site is a free online resource where consumers can compare hundreds of credit card offers by category, including low interest credit cards, credit cards with rewards programs, airline credit cards, cash back credit cards, business cards and more all from home with no hassle. Just hit the search button on the enter your information page, it will then display a list of the most popular cards with links for more information or to order the card directly online.

  3. Step 3

Once you get your card, don't try to max it out the first day. A credit card should be used to build credit smartly. Only charge items that you can pay off at the end of the month when the bill comes, this will keep you from paying double for the item in interest charges. Use the card mainly for emergencies. Don't use over 35 percent of your credit limit on the card; this may negatively affect your credit score.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't pay for a credit card comparison. There are to many free resources out there.
  • Don't max out your credit limit on any card. This will negatively effect your credit score.
