The windshield washer fluid is used to wash the windshield out when objects are on the windshield. When there is no washer fluid in the reservoir, you can't wash out your windshield when you are driving. You will have to stop and wash out the windshield with water. So to prevent this from happening, just follow the steps below to get started.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open the hood and locate the windshield washer reservoir. If having problems locating the reservoir, look in a service manual to locate the reservoir.

  2. Step 2

Look at the side of the reservoir or remove the cap to check the level. If low, add windshield washer fluid into the reservoir. Use a funnel to avoid spills.

  3. Step 3

Do not use engine coolant or anti-freeze as this can ruin the paint on your vehicle. Do not use water as it will freeze at thirty two degrees Fahrenheit. After adding washer fluid, reinstall the cap and you are done. Remember no engine coolant and water, just windshield washer fluid.
