Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Assorted colors of felt squares
  • Sewing thread and needle
  • google eyes(optional)
  1. Step 1

Cut a triangle shape piece of red felt that is 12" across the bottom and gets smaller as it goes up. Should be about 14" tall.
Cut a 5" circle of pink felt for the face.
Cut an irregular piece of orange felt to make the hair or use pieces of short yarn.

  2. Step 2

Cut a small red circle for the clowns nose and two smaller black circles for the eyes. You could glue on google eyes if you like instead of the felt.
Glue or sew the clowns head onto the top of the triangle piece.

  3. Step 3

Cut a strip of felt about 10" long and 5:" high. Sew this piece onto the front of the clown leaving the top open. This will be the pocket for crayons and pencils.
Add 2 or 3 small circles on the front for the buttons on the clowns outfit.
Sew two seams ,top to bottom, on the pocket to create divided pockets.

  4. Step 4

To make the arms (ruler holder),cut a piece of felt 10" long and about 5" wide. Sew this piece to the back in the center. Then fold the edges up and sew them to create a pocket to slide the ruler into.
Attach one end of a cord or ribbon to each shoulder to create a hanging loop.
When this done. Cut a piece of thin cardboard, in the triangle shape, such as poster board ,or cut it from a cereal box ,and glue it to the back of the clown to keep the corners from turning inward. The cardboard should fit from the bottom up to underneath the arms.

Tips & Warnings
  • Pieces can be hand sewed or glued.
  • You could also use this pattern to create an angel caddy, by making the arms(wings) wider and using pink and white felt.
