I remember going fishing with my mother and getting mosquito bites. I also would help around the house with yard work and gardening. Sooner or later I would end up with bug bites leaving small patches of raised red bumps I would scratch until they were red. My mother would make a baking soda paste to soothe the itchy bumps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • baking soda
  • water
  • teaspoon or tablespoon
  • medicine cup or small plastic 3 ounce container
  • alcohol and cotton swabs
  1. Step 1

I clean the mosquito bite with alcohol. Soap and water work well if there is no alcohol to use. Dry the area and try not to scratch the area again while you are making the paste.

  2. Step 2

I put a teaspoon or tablespoon of baking soda in a medicine cup.
I add water a few drops at time until the mixture is a paste and not too runny. I add more baking soda if it's too runny.

  3. Step 3

I apply the baking soda paste to the mosquito bite and let it dry. You can just use your fingers to apply the paste to area of the mosquito bite. Use enough of the paste to cover bumps make more paste if needed.
This helps soothe that itchy feeling that comes with a mosquito bite.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the paste is to runny it won't stick well to the bump so just add a little more baking soda.
  • Scratching those mosquito bumps can leave blisters and raw open areas that can become infected.
