Instructions

    • 1

Open a new document by clicking on the word "File" at the top of the screen. A drop-down list will appear. Click on the word "New" from the drop-down list. The screen will turn white, letting you know that your document file is ready to be created.

    • 2

Format the document. For a brochure, format the document to be in the "landscape" layout. To do this, click on the word "File," then select "Page Setup" from the drop-down list. A window will appear allowing you to select the page orientation. Click on the picture with the title "Landscape," then click "OK."

    • 3

Create the columns inside the brochure. Click on the word "Format" at the top of the screen, then select "Columns" from the drop-down list. Select the number of columns you would like to have in your brochure. Once you select your column number, make sure that you select "Apply to the Whole Document," and then click "OK."

    • 4

Type information into your document. Start typing anywhere in your document. The columns will adjust automatically as you type. Make sure to include as much information as you can that will be both helpful and useful to the patients. Include any relevant studies or websites that will direct the patients to other informative sources. Check the spelling and grammar of your document by clicking on the word "Tools" at the top of the screen, then selecting "Spelling and Grammar." A spelling checker will scan your document for any spelling or grammatical errors.

    • 5

Insert stock photographs into the document. You can find free stock photographs on the Internet that can be used in brochures or pamphlets. Fotosearch and Istockphoto allow use of hundreds of high-quality stock photographs that make your heath care brochure stick out and become more visible in your medical office (see Resources below.) To insert the photographs, click on the area that you would like the image to appear in the document. Next, click on the word "Insert" at the top of the screen. From the drop-down list, click the word "Picture." Select your image, then click "OK." The photo will be inserted in the area that you selected.

    • 6

Print your heath care brochure. Once you are finished designing your heath care brochure, click on the word "File" at the top of the screen, then select "Print" from the drop-down list. Select your printer from the list provided. Type in the number of brochures you will want to print, then click "OK." Your heath care brochure will begin to print from your color printer, and will be ready to display in your medical office.
