Things You'll Need:
- Hair Conditioner
- Wide Tooth Comb
- Water
-
Step 1
Wet your hair completely and saturate your hair with a high quality conditioner.
-
Step 2
Using a wide tooth comb or your fingers to work out tangles. Start at the bottom of your hair and work your way to the top.
-
Step 3
Once you think you have all of the tangles out, gently comb your hair from top to bottom. Don’t force the comb because this can break your hair.
-
Step 4
Wash out the excess conditioner and style. If it’s going to be windy, you are going to be playing sports or some other hair tangling activity consider braiding your hair.
-
Step 5
For tangles that are not so serious either buy a detangler. You can also make your own by diluting some conditioner in a spray bottle with water. Spray it onto your hair before combing. You can also use this on wet hair prior to combing.
-
Step 6
Give your hair a weekly conditioning treatment to make it more manageable and less acceptable to getting tangles.
-
Step 7
If all else fails use olive oil or baby oil to work the tangles out. However this is a drastic measure for extremely tangled and matted hair.
