Things You'll Need:
- Towel / Napkins
- Rice
- Desiccant Bag
-
Step 1
Disconnect your cell phone from any power sources such as car chargers or home chargers. Remove the battery from your cell phone as soon as possible. If your phone has a SIM card, take it out as well. Dry the battery and SIM card thoroughly with a paper towel.
-
Step 2
Dry your phone - this may seem obvious, but do your best to remove all the liquid you can get at. Use paper towels, q-tips, napkins, etc. Remove any accessible covers to help get at the liquid.
-
Step 3
3. Let the liquid evaporate - One way to do this is to place your cell phone in a container and cover it in rice. Cover the container so it is air tight. Let it sit overnight. The rice will draw any moisture in the phone out. An even better approach is to place the phone in a baggie with a desiccant bag (those little bags that come with dvd players, etc to keep out dampness). This will draw out any moisture as well. Remember, the longer you let it dry, the better chance it will work again.

Step 4
After your phone has had adequate time to dry, its time to see if it was saved. Reinstall your SIM card but not the battery. A battery that has gotten wet may be broken beyond repair. Use your cell phone charger to power up the phone first. If it the phone turns on and works, install your battery to see if it works as well. If all goes well, everything works fine and you don't have to replace your cell phone. Just remember that next time you might not be so lucky so try not to spill anything on your phone in the first place.
