Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get a Colonoscopy at 50 and every 10 years after. A colonoscopy can find an early sign of cancer and via the colonscopy these lesions can be removed. This is probably the single most important thing to have done to prevent colon cancer.

  2. Step 2

Exercise - Once again exercise finds a list on how to remain healthy. Exercise has shown to decrease your risk of any type of cancer. As I said before a 30 minute walk 3 times a week to start. Then gradually build up if you'd like.

  3. Step 3

Avoid high fat diets. Fried Foods, Excessive use of butter, Red meats high in Saturated fats and any high fat animal products are a risk factor for colon cancer. Try to incorporate more fiber in your diet along with fruits and vegetables.

  4. Step 4

Increase Calcium intake - If you are not already supplementing Calcium consider doing so. Take a Calcium and vitamin D supplement. Calcium has shown to decrease risk of colorectal cancer.

  5. Step 5

Probiotics - They are all over the place now. Lactobacillus casei has shown to prevent recurring cancer.

  6. Step 6

Mushroom extract - Reishi, Shiitake, and Maitake all have anticancer properties. They can all be found in a mushroom extract supplement.

  7. Step 7

Garlic - Garlic too has anticancer properties. Use it in cooking or get a garlic supplement.
