Pizza dough can easily be frozen for later use. By making a large batch of pizza dough and freezing the extra, you can create a stockpile of homemade pizza dough in your freezer. When you want pizza, you won't have to mess around with making homemade pizza dough each time.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • freezer bags
  • 2 T yeast
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 T salt
  • 4-5 cups whole wheat flour
  • 4-5 cups all purpose flour
  1. Step 1

Combine the yeast, 2 cups of warm water, and the teaspoon of honey. Allow it to sit for about 10 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Add the rest of the water, honey and salt. Mix well.

  3. Step 3

Gradually add the flour as you mix until all of it is combined. Knead the dough for about 5 to 10 minutes.

  4. Step 4

Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.

  5. Step 5

Divide the dough into 4 portions. If you plan to serve pizza that night, save one portion.

  6. Step 6

Place each of the remaining amounts of homemade pizza dough in its own freezer bag. Squeeze out all of the excess air from the bag. Seal the top of the bag. Label the bag and add the date to ensure you use the oldest dough first. Place the dough in the freezer until you are ready to use it.

  7. Step 7

When you want to use the dough, remove one portion from the freezer in the morning. It will be thawed by dinner time. Roll it out and bake as you normally would bake the pizza.

  8. Step 8

To bake the pizza using this dough recipe, preheat the oven to 500 degrees. Turn it down to 450 degrees when you put the pizza in the oven. Check the pizza after 10 minutes. Bake a few minutes longer if necessary.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can freeze your own homemade pizza dough in a similar manner if you prefer.
