Estimating tile for a interior walls is simple, take the length times the width then divide it by the tile size. Example: a wall 10' long and 8' high with 6" tile, 10x8={80sqft} next since we have 6" tile it will take 4 tiles to make 1 sqft [a square foot is 12" by 12"] then multiply 80x4={320} So a 10'x8' wall with 6" tile would need 320 tiles.

Estimating Floor tile can be a little harder then walls because floors will have more angles to estimate around then walls do. When estimating the floors its done the same way as above "length times width" to make it easier when dealing with a floor with angle and different lengths you should brake the floor into smaller boxes and estimate each part as its own box the add all the numbers together to get the total SQFT.

Grout lines, the only time the grout line might effect the total number of tile would be when there is 1st. a large area being tiled, 2nd. a 3/8" grout line being used between tiles. In this case it would be a less number of tiles needed so if you skipped figuring it in the down side is ending up with extra tile after the job is done.
