It is wise to check your credit report at least once a year for accuracy. We will show you how to receive a free credit report annually.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    There are three credit reporting agencies where you can obtain a credit report. They are Trans Union, Experian and Equifax. They all charge a fee to receive your full credit report.

  2. Step 2

    However by law everyone is supposed to receive one free credit report per year. You can obtain one at annualcreditreport.com At this site you will have to fill out some of your personal information and then you will be asked a question for security purposes. For example, you have a mortgage that was opened in what year. After this is complete you will be able to choose which company you would like your credit report from. Your choices are TransUnion, Expedian or Equifax.

  3. Step 3

    Your credit report is free through this site. Just keep in mind that you are only allowed one per year. You should also keep in mind that each credit reporting agency is different and may not have all of the same information, so it is a good ideas to check all the agencies when you have the opportunity to do so.

on 6/24/2009 freecreditreport.com are crooks! Even reading carefully is not enough to avoid being signed up for a $20 service without your knowledge. Talk about fine print! I'm not stupid and yet I've been paying for things that looked like junk mail. Find somewhere else for this information. Don't use them.
