Things You'll Need:
- Flat Head Screwdriver
- Philips Screwdriver
- Adjustable wrench / socket wrench
- Wire cutters
-
Step 1
The first step is to remove the decorative shell (faceplate) around your radio. This can be attached using different methods. The most common method is that it "snaps" into the dashboard. To remove this type, slide the tip of a flathead screwdriver between the cover and dashboard and gently pry it off. Try not to apply too much force or you could damage the faceplate. If the faceplate is screwed or bolted on, you will have to find and remove the screws or bolts.
-
Step 2
Once the faceplate is removed, take out the screws that hold the stereo in place. They are typically located on the sides of the radio. Once the screws are removed, carefully slide the stereo out. Do not pull too hard on the radio or you may damage the electrical connections on the back.

Step 3
The final step in the process is to unplug the electrical connections. These are multicolored wires plugged into the back of the radio and are usually connected with a plastic connector. Some connectors may have tabs on the side, which will need to be pried open in order to disconnect the connector. The Antenna wire can be removed by gently pulling it out of the radio. Your stereo is now ready to be replaced.
