Things You'll Need:
- Time
- Commitment
-
Step 1
Plant a tree together. Explain to your children that trees suck up the yucky carbon dioxide that is in the air.
-
Step 2
Enjoy nature. Go for a hike. Ride bikes together. Bird watch. Enjoy all of the beautiful flowers nature has to offer. Teach your children to love nature (and the Earth) and how we must take care of it.
-
Step 3
Make a tire swing. Have an old tire laying around? Promote recycling and make a swing out of it. Your children will have fun while learning an important lesson about recycling.
-
Step 4
Make an Earth Day poster. Illustrate what Earth Day means to you. Hang it up in your home, at school, church, where ever you would like your message to be remembered.
-
Step 5
Decorate paper grocery bags. Use grocery bags you already have or ask to borrow some from your local grocery store. Decorate them for Earth Day and bring them back to be used for customers. Your Earth Day art work will reach lots of people.
-
Step 6
Organize an Earth Day function at school. Talk to your child's teacher or principal about organizing an Earth day event. The event can be a demonstration, a bake sale with proceeds going to an Earth Day charity, or informational.
-
Step 7
Watch a movie or read a book about the environment together.

on 5/12/2009 I personally wish we would get back to doing these things with our children more often no matter what day it is. Great reminder on how to appreciate the little things that are so important.
