Herb baths, also called hydrotherapy, affect the body by enhancing the natural healing effect of the water. Herb baths are an important part of most spa treatments, but with a basic knowledge of herbs they can be enjoyed at home.
Balm has natural calmative properties and using the leaves in an infusion to add to the bath before bedtime helps bring on a good nights sleep.
Use the leaves of balm mint, bee balm, cure-all, garden balm, blue balm, lemon balm or sweet balm for the infusion.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bathtub
  • Balm leaves
  • Large Pot
  • Water
  • Strainer
  1. Step 1

    Bring 1 qt. of water to boil in a large pot.

  2. Step 2

    Remove the pot from the heat.

  3. Step 3

    Add 2 oz. of fresh balm leaves to the pot of hot water.

  4. Step 4

    Steep the leaves for 15 minutes to make the infusion.

  5. Step 5

    Draw a full tub of warm water.

  6. Step 6

    Pour the balm infusion into the bath through a strainer to remove the leaves.

  7. Step 7

    Step into the herbal bath and relax.

Tips & Warnings
  • The herbal bath helps fight insomnia if used immediately before retiring.
