Greeting associates should be done with a handshake. Each person extends his or her right hand, and with a firm shake does approximately 3 pumps. Do not squeeze too hard, and do not use a limp handshake.

When introducing two people to each other, the younger person should be introduced to the older person, or the lower job category to the person in the upper category.

  3. Step 3

When attending a reception, you should socialize and meet new contacts. You should introduce yourself the others, but never interrupt a conversation. Stand to the side and wait for your opportunity.

A business luncheon is important for you to express your table manners. Never place your elbows on the table. When all guests are seated, you may put your napkin in your lap. Use silverware from the left to right starting on the outside.

  5. Step 5

Wait until everyone has been served before you begin eating. Take only small bites, and chew slowly. Food is usually passed to the right. Taste all food before salting it. When you have finished, place your napkin to the right of your dinner place.
