If you are in the market to buy a car, already know what car you want and have cash or your own financing, you should go through and internet car dealer in order to get the best deal. This method bypasses having to haggle/negotiate with greedy car salesmen.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find an online car dealer. Internet car dealers can be found by going online and searching for the Invoice price of the car you want. There are several internet car dealer sites on the web.

  2. Step 2

Enter your real information on the website. You will get emails from your local area internet car dealers offering you the car you requested giving you the price, the invoice price and the MSRP. This is how you know you are getting a great deal.

  3. Step 3

Decide among the emails what dealership you will visit. Print out the email you were sent. Call ahead to the dealership to find out if the internet salesman is there that emailed you. You will not get the price quoted unless you go to him or her. Refuse to be helped by anyone other than the person that sent you the email.

  4. Step 4

Meet the internet salesman, firm up the deal, and listen to any required sales pitches. Salesmen are often required to try to sell you on a lease or other upgrades.

  5. Step 5

When you go through the internet salesman, the dealership is not making much profit, so they will try to sell you on bad financing. Get your own financing through your bank or credit union, and refuse all efforts to finance through the dealership's bank. Trust me, they are only trying to erase the good deal you made on the base price by giving you unfair financing terms.

  6. Step 6

After the paperwork is signed and you pick up your car, bring the dealership their payment. If you have a trade, remove tags from the car before you leave. Call the dealership before the paper tags on your new car expires to get the new plates.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the internet dealer does not have the car advertised in the email, refuse to be sold another car and leave.
  • If anyone treats you with less than the utmost respect, leave.
  • The dealership may try to make you feel bad about getting such a great deal. Ignore them.
