How to Make Rice in an E-Wave Three-Tier Food Steamer
Steaming rice is a healthy way to cook rice. Steam cooking retains 50 percent more nutrients. By using the E-Wave Three-Tier Food Steamer, it does not remove the nutrients that some rices carry. Fill the bottom of the E-Wave Food Steamer with water, according to the manufacturer's instructions. There will be a water line on the inside of the steamer base to help you know where to stop.

The steamer has three stackable steaming baskets. Use the solid basket that holds water. Place the uncooked rice of your choice (wild, brown or white) into the bottom of the solid basket and fill with water according to the instructions. The standard ratio for cooking rice is 2:1 (2 cups of water for every 1 cup of rice).

Add salt in the water before it boils to give the rice a little flavor. The salt flavor adheres to the rice better while it is being boiled in the water.

Place the solid basket back on the base and cover the basket with the lid provided. Set the digital timer of the steamer according to the instructions, then turn the unit on.

Once the steamer has completed its cycle, the auto timer will automatically shut the appliance off to keep it from overcooking. Lift the lid to allow the steam to escape from the basket.

Make sure most of the water has been absorbed or evaporated before taking the rice out of the cooking basket. If the rice appears to be soupy, reset the timer to cook the rice longer. The rice is done when it is tender, fluffy and the water in the cooking bowl is completely absorbed.

Tips & Warnings
If you are also using the steamer to cook an entire meal or side dish, make sure your rice is not under any of the dishes, because the drippings from your meats and/or vegetables will fall into the rice dish, giving the rice an aftertaste.
Be careful when opening up the lid to the steamer after the rice has been cooked. The steam can cause burns to the hands, neck and/or face. Carefully open the lid with the back of the lid is facing you and the steam being released in the opposite direction from where you are standing.
