How to Draw Skateboarding Stuff
Skateboarding culture has evolved greatly over the years. What was once a toy on par with a hula hoop has created an entire subculture. Over the years, skating culture has evolved from a fairly obscure sport to being shown on ESPN. Drawing skateboarding equipment is good practice for anyone who has a desire to design their own skateboarding products. After you learn how to draw skateboards and helmets, you can experiment with designs and color schemes. Soon, you can have your own original illustrations of skateboarding gear to show off to your friends.
Things You'll Need
- Paper
- Pencil
- Black ink pen
- Kneaded eraser
- Markers in dark gray, gray, blue tan and black.

Draw the skateboard with a diagonal rectangle with the right end pointing to the upper right hand corner of the page. Add the trucks to the skateboard with a small triangle on the on the bottom left and the upper right of the board. Draw the helmet with a semicircle. Attach a "W" shape to the bottom of the semicircle.

Draw the wheels with two small circles on the bottom right side of each truck. Add a small "C" to the upper right corner of the front truck for the exposed front right wheel. Add two small circles to the upper left side of the helmet for air holes. Add three small teardrop shapes just above these circles. Draw the straps of the helmet with two curved lines coming out of the right and left corners of the helmet. These lines should curve down and toward each other. Add a diagonal rectangle where these lines converge.

Draw two parallel curved lines around the bottom of the helmet semicircle. Add a parallel line beside each strap to make the helmet straps the appropriate thickness. Add a parallel line around the front and side of the skateboard. Erase any overlapping lines that you don't need anymore. Ink the entire illustration. Let the ink dry and carefully erase the pencil lines.

Color the top grip tape section of the skateboard dark gray. Color the front and side of the board tan. Color the screws gray. Color the trucks gray and the wheels blue. Color the top and bottom of the helmet gray. Color the parallel lines at the base of the semicircle section of the helmet dark gray. Color the small circles and the teardrop shapes dark gray as well. Color the straps of the helmet black.

Tips & Warnings
Make a photocopy of the skateboard and helmet before you color it so that you can try multiple designs and coloring jobs on your illustration.
Place a piece of paper under your illustration when you color it to keep the ink from bleeding through.
