Bamboo fountains have long been used in Japanese zen gardens and shrines. Visitors to the shrines or gardens would wash their hands and rinse their mouth from the water basins. The fountain created a quiet, calming effect to the shrine or garden. Water basins with a bamboo spout for flowing water will create a serene atmosphere to any garden, and they also have several uses. Does this Spark an idea?

      Deer

Deer and wild animals can cause quite a bit of damage to a flower garden by eating the blooms of flowers during the night. Use a deer-catcher bamboo fountain to keep critters away.
This type of bamboo fountain has a mechanism where the fountain spout fills with water, then flows over to another bamboo section. The second section in turn fills, and the weight of the water makes it empty the water back into the basin. When the bamboo hits a stone underneath it, this creates a clacking noise that scares the animals away from the garden.

Use a bamboo fountain in the garden to attract birds and butterflies. Birds and butterflies are attracted to the water to play in and drink. Although the clacking noise scares wild animals away, it does not scare birds.

Create a calm and quiet area for contemplation. A flower garden with a bamboo fountain helps to calm the nerves and gives the visitor a serene and relaxing feeling. Sitting in the flower garden with bees buzzing, butterflies fluttering, the gentle sound of water flowing, a warm breeze wafting and the subtle scents of the flowers permeating the air will help you forget your worries and feel refreshed.
