Step 1
Square-Ended FoldFold sturdy fabrics, such as linen and cotton, using a square-ended fold. Start with the handkerchief laying flat, and fold it in half. Make sure that the edges line up properly. Fold the handkerchief in half again, making a smaller square. Next, fold one side of the square so that it lines up right in the middle of the square. Repeat with the other side of the square, creating a rectangle. Fold the bottom of the rectangle up to meet the top, creating a small square. Slip the folded end of the square into the pocket of the coat pocket.

Step 2
The Puffed Fold.Fold silk or satin fabrics using a puffed fold. Grasp the middle of the handkerchief, letting the ends flow freely. Pull the ends straight, and fold them over to meet the middle where you are holding the handkerchief. Tuck the ends into the pocket of the coat, letting the folded end poke out.

Step 3
The Multi-Pointed FoldFold medium to light weight fabrics, such as silk or cotton, using the multi-pointed fold. Lay the handkerchief flat, and fold one corner over to meet the opposite corner, creating a triangle. Lay the triangle flat, letting the wider point hang down in the middle, slightly askew. Next, fold one of the narrow corners across the middle point, crossing it slightly over the point. Repeat with the other corner, crossing it over the opposite side. Wrap the remaining corners around the middle points. Tuck the folded end of the handkerchief into the pocket of the coat, letting the points stick out.

Face one corner upwards. Fold the right corner in to touch the middle. Repeat this with the opposite corner. Fold the bottom corner up to meet the top corner. Tuck the folded edge into the coat pocket.
