Instructions
-
-
1
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.
-
2
Put 1 cup of birdseed in a medium bowl.
-
-
3
Crack the eggs and obtain egg whites by rotating the yolk back and forth between the two shells until most of the white is in the small bowl. Discard the yolks.
-
4
Using an egg whip, beat the eggs until they are frothy. They do not need to be stiff.
-
5
Pour the egg whites into the bowl with the birdseed and mix until the seed is completely moist.
-
6
Spoon the seed mixture into the molds and press firmly down so the molds are filled. Use a pen to poke a hole through the seed mixture for the ribbon.
-
7
Bake for 1 hour. Remove from the oven and allow the favors to cool completely before removing from the molds.
-
8
Make custom tags from cardstock to go with the favors. The cards should be roughly 2 inches by 2 inches and could include the couple's monogram, mention the theme of the wedding, or have a personal note for the guests. Cut out the cards and punch a whole in the top corner for the ribbon.
-
9
String a 6-inch piece of ribbon through the birdseed and tag holes and tie the ends together.
-
10
Put the finished favors in an airtight container to ensure they do not accumulate dust.
-
11
Place the favors at the guests' place settings or hang them from the centerpieces for a creative touch.
