Things You'll Need:
- Sponge
- Liquid dishwashing soap
- Paper towels
- Water
- Bowl

Step 1
Unplug your deep fat fryer and discard the used oil. Tip the fryer on its side so the open side is over the edge of a sink, and place a bowl in the bottom of the sink to catch additional oil as it drips out. Once the dripping has slowed to just one drop every 10 seconds, set the deep fat fryer upright and discard the oil in the bowl.
-
Step 2
Using paper towels, wipe the interior of the deep fat fryer to clean out oil and debris stuck to the sides and bottom. Repeat this step several times to remove as much oil as possible.
-
Step 3
Wet your sponge and wash the interior of your deep fat fryer with the dishwashing soap. If your sink is deep enough to hold the fryer while you fill it with water to rinse, go ahead and do so. Make sure the sink is dry before you put the fryer in it, and do not allow water to drip down the outside of the fryer or you risk damaging the electrical parts of your deep fat fryer.
Otherwise, use a cup or bowl for water to rinse the interior of the fryer. Wash and rinse again if the interior sides or bottom still feel oily to the touch. -
Step 4
Use the damp soapy sponge to clean the exterior of the deep fat fryer. Make sure the sponge isn't sopping wet or dripping. You just want the sponge to be damp enough to wipe dirt, dust and oil off the exterior.
-
Step 5
Dry the interior and exterior of the deep fat fryer with paper towels. If water ran down the exterior or you suspect it came into contact with the electrical components of the fryer, let it air dry for 24 to 48 hours before using it.
