  1. Step 1

Measure the lid of your box and cut a swatch of fabric large enough to cover the lid, edges and an inch on the underside of the box lid. Cut another swatch to fit the underside of the lid. Cut one length of fabric that will encircle the box on the outside and fold 3 inches on the inside of the rim. Cut a swatch to fit the bottom of your box. Apply spray adhesive on the areas to be covered and wrap them in fabric. Glue a large seashell or a group of seashells to the center of the lid with a glue gun.

Cover your lid and your box base with decorative rhinestones. Find the craft stones with flat backs and glue them onto the box surface with jewelry glue. Draw a pattern directly onto the box and fill in with rhinestones or randomly place them in a burst of color. Let the glue dry according to the manufacturer's directions.

  3. Step 3

Paint decorative flowers on your box with stencils or templates or stamp your favorite inspirational saying onto the lid. Paint the box completely in one color, and then add the decorative elements. For stamping, apply the paint color of your choice to the stamp with a brush, the press the stamp in place on the box. Let the paint decorations dry before adding a polyurethane topcoat for protection and shine.

  4. Step 4

Tear strips and blocks of decorative scrapbook paper. Apply a thin layer of decoupage medium to your box and press on the torn paper. Let the decoupage medium dry. Apply another coat or two of decoupage medium to seal the paper on the box.
