How to Draw Lilly Flowers

Lilies are one of the easiest flowers to draw. Even if you don't draw a lily flower perfectly, it will still be recognizable as a lily. Lilies come in tons of colors, so they are both easy and fun to draw. You can combine many lilies together to draw an entire lily garden.

How to Draw Lily Flowers

1. 

   A lily flower has six petals, evenly spaced. Practice drawing a lily flower from above by first drawing three lines that intersect, like an asterisk.

2. 

   Draw petals around these lines. Now you have a lily from above.

3. 

   Often you will see a lily slightly from the side. Imagine your asterisk again. Draw it tilted to the side.

4. 

   Draw the petals around these lines. They will all be slightly tilted. It's good to draw each petal a little differently--real lilies aren't perfectly symmetrical. Their tips may curl up or down, and some petals may be higher or lower.

5. Lilies often come in a garden. Draw more lilies, from different angles. Draw a bud--a lily bud is shaped like a skinny oval.

6. 

   Draw some leaves around the lilies. Daylilies have long leaves that all come out from the bottom of the stem. Trumpet lilies have shorter leaves that come out from many different places on the stem.

7. 

   Color in your lilies. Lilies are often red, orange, and yellow. They can also be maroon or peach, or even a purple so dark it's almost black.
