Often made of wool, silk or cotton, Turkish rugs require special care. There are many variations and combination of fabrics, such as wool spun on wool, wool spun on cotton and wool and silk. These rugs are dyed with natural or chemical dyes, depending on the composition. Natural dyes are often used on wool whereas chemical dyes are commonly used for silk. Handspun or made by machine, Turkish rugs are always a rare and rbeautiful piece of artwork that make a gorgeous addition to any home.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Soft clean cloth
  • Vinegar
  • Mild dish soap
  1. Step 1

    Clean up the spill or messy spot as best you can with paper towels or a clean cloth.

  2. Step 2

    Make a mixture of ¼ cup of vinegar, ½ teaspoon mild dish soap, and 2 cups of water.

  3. Step 3

    Dip a sponge in the solution and wring it out well.

  4. Step 4

    Scrub the stain gently with the solution until you can no longer see it.

  5. Step 5

    Rinse the area by applying clear water with a sponge or soft clean cloth. Work the water gently into the rug, being careful not to scrub too hard.

  6. Step 6

    Allow the rug to air dry or set it outside in the sunshine.
