How to Change Credit Card Information

From time to time, we all go through one of life's big changes, and we need to go through the process of updating all of our pertinent credit card information. Such changes can include getting married and changing your last name or allowing your spouse access to certain accounts. Another more common change is moving and changing your address so that you still receive all of your mail. Additionally, you may simply want to update your security information to make sure you are protected.

Contact your credit card company. The fastest way to make a change is to call your credit card company and talk to a customer service representative. She will walk you through the process of whatever you need to do whether it simply be making a change over the phone or sending further documentation to the company. An easy item to change would be your mailing address, when, in most cases, the respresentative will simply accept the change over the phone.

Change your security information on the account by giving the answers to your current security questions to the customer service agent. She will need to know the current answers in order to verify that it is, in fact, your account. It is a good idea to change your security answers from time to time to make sure that your information is safe.

Alter the password on your credit card account by logging in online with your current password. There should be a tab after you login that says "Change Password" or "Change Login." If there is not a tab specifically for that task, click on the "Account Information" tab as it should prompt you on how to change your password or login.

Add your spouse to your account by talking to a customer service representative, answering the questions and requesting that you spouse be added. This will enable your spouse to inquire about, pay bills or make changes to your account when necessary. You will also be given the option of receiving an additional card in the mail for your spouse to use.
