How to Convert Credit Card Points to Frequent Flyer Miles

If you have a credit card that allows you to collect points and convert them to frequent flyer miles, you will want to find out the process to do this. Each credit card company may have different rules about redeeming frequent flyer miles. You will want to follow these requirements in order to ensure that you don't lose any of your earned miles.

1. Read through the requirements in order to convert your credit card points to usable frequent flyer miles. For instance, if you earn 15,000 credit card points it may be converted to 15,000 miles. This will be enough to approximately cover the cost of a $150 plane ticket.

2. Book your travel arrangements. Many credit card companies will allow you to book your airfare without requiring that you go through them. Make your travel arrangements with the specific airline required by your credit card company.

3. Redeem your credit card points online or by calling your credit card company's customer service line. Save all of your travel documents in order to provide evidence of your travel arrangements to the company.

4. Receive a travel credit to your card. Once you have been approved to use the frequent flyer miles, the credit card company will put a credit back onto your account for the amount of miles that you have converted.

5. Pay for the flight with your miles. Some credit card frequent flyer programs do not have a reimbursement program. Instead, you call the airline directly and give them the frequent flyer number provided by your credit card company.
