1
Measure the size of your mattress and add 2 inch to the length and width for a secure fit. Purchase your plywood, sides and supports pre-cut at the lumberyard for your convenience. Be sure this frame is large enough to fit your mattress snugly. You will mark exact measurements on each of your four leg posts.
-
2
Build the frame by countersinking side frames to the leg posts 2 inches from the bottom with wood screws. Drop in wood glue for a study hold. Repeat with top and toe sides.

-
3
Use wood screws to attach the 2-by-2-inch lengths of pine at the bottom inside of the frame. This is the inside rail that the plywood will rest on.
-
4
Finish the frame with stain and lacquer and allow to dry.
-
5
Place the two sheets of pre-cut plywood onto the support pieces. You may attach them to the support rails for more sturdiness.
