    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Rake
    • Shovel
    • Sand
    • Gloves
    • Trellis
      • 1

Choose a location to plant your Himrod grape vines. Make sure the area gets a lot of sunshine and has a trellis or fence that the vines can cover.

      • 2

Prepare the soil--preferably on a slope, so water runs off. Break up the soil well and add some sand. The soil must drain well so water doesn't cause root rot.

      • 3

Dig a hole at least 1 foot wide to give the vine roots room to grow. Place a Himrod grape vine cutting into the hole carefully. Try not to disturb the roots. Cover the vine roots completely with 2 inches of dirt.

      • 4

Water the vines thoroughly without drowning them. Keeping the ground moist until the roots are established is especially important in dry climates.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Water your Himrod grape vines in the early morning or late evening. This allows the ground to absorb the water before the sun evaporates the moisture.

    • Plant your grape vines after the frost for best results.
