How to Arrange Decorative Tile on a Wall

Tile is traditionally made from clay or glass. It's often used as flooring, or to cover part of a wall. Painted tiles are sometimes used as artwork. It's easy to display a group of decorative tiles on your wall.

Things You'll Need

• Tape measure
• Painter's tape
• Cardboard
• Wall hangers
• Copper wire

Instructions

1. Measure the wall. Make note of any furniture that covers part of the wall.

2. Mark the area where you want to place the tiles with a pencil and painters tape. Clean the wall, if necessary.

3. Make a template. Measure the tile and cut a piece of cardboard in the same shape. Arrange the tiles on a flat surface until you are happy with the design.

4. Attach picture hangers to the wall that are strong enough to support the weight of the tiles.

5. Place the tiles on top of the wall hangers. Tiles should gently rest on the wall hanger--and should not jut out from the wall more than 1/2 inch.

Tips & Warnings

• If any tiles jut out from the wall too far, wrap 2 inches of copper wire around the picture hanger and the wire in back of the tile. Wrap the wires together so that the excess wire is pulled taut.
