Things You'll Need:
- Eye primer
- Eyeshadow base
- Eyeshadow in lavender, violet, purple or plum
- Domed eyeshadow brush
- Eyeshadow crease brush
- Highlight eyeshadow
- Creamy eyeliner
-
Step 1
Prep clean lids for makeup by applying eye primer from lash line to browbone. Once the primer absorbs, lay down an eyeshadow base, also from lash line to browbone. Base and primer help the eyeshadows you apply to enhance your green eyes last longer and appear more vivid against your skin.
-
Step 2
Look for the eyeshadow color that best flatters your eyes based on their shade of green. A lavender or violet eyeshadow with a touch of red or pink brings out the yellow-gold tint in green eyes, while a purple eyeshadow with a bit of brown or bronze draws attention to the blue in green eyes. Invest in an eyeshadow with a highly pigmented formula for color that pops.
-
Step 3
Encircle your green eyes with the mid-tone violet, purple or plummy eyeshadow of your choice, making sure no skin is showing in between the eyeshadow and your lashes. You may apply the color around your lashes and stop there, or use a heavier hand in your application for some drama. In any case, blend away any hard edges in your eyeshadow application with a domed eyeshadow brush.
-
Step 4
Add depth to your eye makeup by using an eyeshadow crease brush to blend a darker version of your eyeshadow in Step 3 on your crease or on the outer corner of your upper eyelid (see Resources for more detailed application tips). Smooth a highlight eyeshadow on the inner corners of your eyes and on your browbones under the arches of your eyebrows. This will draw the light to your green eyes and add texture to your eye makeup.
-
Step 5
Keep your eyeshadow from looking unstructured by working a creamy eyeliner into the base of your lash lines to bring out the shape of your eyes. Use a neutral shade like black, gray or brown to avoid detracting attention from your purple-toned eyeshadow and green eyes. You aren't lining your eyes so much as making your lashes appear thicker. You may apply the eyeliner to only your top lash lines, or to your bottom ones as well if you want a sultry look.
