How to Build Musical Wooden Toys

• 3-foot 1-by-4-inch board
• Kite string
• Staple gun
• Staples
• Duct tape
• Sharp hand saw
• Drill
• Wooden kitchen spoon
• Pen

How to Build Musical Wooden Toys

1. Measure and mark the bamboo in four places: 27 inches, 21 inches, 15 inches and 8 inches. Wrap duct tape next to the cutting marks to keep the wood from splintering. Cut the four lengths of bamboo using a sharp hand saw.

2. Drill two holes across from each other, 1 inch from the top of each piece of bamboo. Cut four pieces of kite string 2 feet long. Thread kite string through the holes. While holding onto both ends of string, tie a knot 4 inches above the bamboo.

3. Mark the 3-foot board at 10 inches, 15 inches, 21 inches and 27 inches. Attach each string to the board using the staple gun at each of the marks.

4. Lay the board across two chairs or any other surface of equal height. Use a wooden kitchen spoon or wooden kitchen mallet to create musical notes.
