Instructions

    • 1

Cover all of the birdhouses with primer. This will protect the wood and allow the paint to adhere better. Allow the primer to dry completely, according to the directions on the can. Some primers dry in 2 hours; some require more than 12 hours' drying time.

    • 2

Apply paint to all of the birdhouses. Paint with the grain, for a better, smoother finish. Allow the paint to dry completely, according to the directions on the can.

    • 3

Use a fine-tipped black paint pen to write information about your wedding date on the birdhouse. Let the paint pen lettering dry on all of the houses.

    • 4

Use the craft glue to "draw" all over the birdhouse. You can draw ivy, flowers or anything that you choose. Make sure to use craft glue such as Aleene's Tacky Glue, as opposed to a school glue. Craft glue is thicker and won't run.

    • 5

Sprinkle the glitter over the glue, liberally, before the glue has a chance to congeal and harden. Let the birdhouses dry for at least 24 hours.

    • 6

Seal the birdhouses with glossy, clear sealant spray. After a few hours, apply a second coat of the sealant. The birdhouses will need 48 hours' drying time before they can be touched.
