How to Make Shampoo for Dogs

Dog shampoo must contain a certain pH balance. Because of this most pet owners buy a dog shampoo from a pet store. This shampoo can cost between $4 to $6 per bottle. Dog owners can make a shampoo for their dog that can cost them an average of $2 per bottle by following the instructions in this article. The pH balance will be just right for a dog.

Things You'll Need

• Ivory dish soap
• Vinegar
• Glycerin
• Empty shampoo bottle
• Sticky label
• Permanent marker

Instructions

1. Clean an old shampoo bottle and let it air dry.

2. Pour 2 tsp. of vinegar in the shampoo bottle.

3. Add 1 tsp. of glycerin to the shampoo bottle. Glycerin is sold in any department store or grocery store that sells alcohol and hydrogen peroxide.

4. Fill the shampoo bottle the rest of the way with Ivory dish soap. Ivory should be used verses other dish soaps because it is the most gentle on a dog's skin.

5. Shake the bottle to combine the ingredients and then label the shampoo with your dog's name. This will keep you from confusing it with your shampoo.
