Homemade Low Calorie Peanut Butter Trail Mix Granola Recipe

Granola and peanut butter are both healthy snacks filled with "good-for-you" fats. Unfortunately, this does not make them low-calorie. But with the proper combination of other foods, the right ingredients and portion control you can turn them into a low-calorie trail mix. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/3 cup almonds
  • Medium bowl
  • Baking pan
  • Microwave-safe dish

Instructions

      Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.

      Combine the oats and wheat germ in a medium bowl.

      Mix the brown sugar and peanut butter into a microwave save dish. Microwave on high for 20 seconds, and mix again.

      Pour the peanut butter mixture over the cereal mixture and stir it.

      Add cranberries and almonds to the mixture.

      Spread the mixture evenly into the baking dish and bake it for 20 minutes. Stir twice.

      Cool before serving.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also add 1/3 cup raisins.

  • Eat within two days.
