Instructions

    • 1

Measure your duvet, and then compare it to the size of basic, twin, full, queen or king flat sheets. You will need two sheets bigger than your duvet.

    • 2

Choose your sheets. Check the store where you got the rest of your linens and see what's in stock that looks good with your bedroom/bed decor. Allow yourself to be a little extravagant--go for a higher thread count, for example.

    • 3

Measure the sheets. Once you've washed and dried your sheets, lay them out on a flat, clean surface and determine exactly how much bigger they are than your duvet. Leave the "top" of the sheet, the large folded-over seam, alone--you'll need it later as the opening of the duvet cover. Trim the sides and bottom of your sheets to 3 or 4 inches larger than the duvet sides and bottom. Pin right sides together and sew.

Add the closers. Turn the sewn sheets right side out, add the large buttons at regular intervals, and use your sewing machine to make corresponding button holes. Slide the duvet into its new cover, and button it in.

Tips & Warnings
