A sombrero is a very popular alcoholic beverage that has many variations. The more popular Mexican sombrero is made from Kahlua, brandy and milk. Mexican sombreros make excellent party drinks. Another sombrero drink is the Italian version, made from amaretto, cream and ice. They make excellent social drinks. There's also a Russian sombrero made from coffee vodka and Irish cream. Russian sombreros taste best with large chunks of ice.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 oz. Kahlua
  • 1 oz. brandy
  • Irish Cream (for Russian drink)
  • Coffee vodka (for Russian drink)
  • Amaretto (for Italian drink)
  • Milk
  • Whipped cream
  • Straw
  • Rocks glass
  • Crushed Ice
  1. Step 1

Take the tall drinking glass and fill the glass half full with crushed ice. This recipe makes one serving--you'll need to repeat for each serving you wish to make. If you're making a Russian sombrero, you can replace the crushed ice with chips or cubes.

  2. Step 2

Fill the glass with 2 oz. of Kahlua and one ounce of brandy. You can replace the brandy and Kahlua with 3 oz. amaretto for an Italian sombrero or 3 oz. coffee vodka and 1 ½ ounces Irish cream for a Russian variation.

  3. Step 3

Top off the glass with milk. It doesn't matter if the milk is full-fat or fat-free. If you're making a Russian or Italian version, do not add milk. Add whipped cream and enjoy.

  4. Step 4

Add a drinking straw for the Italian sombreros. Russian and Mexican sombreros are usually sipped through the glass without a straw.

  5. Step 5

Sombreros make excellent party drinks, but can also be created for cocktail occasions; it's all in how you present them. For a business gathering, you can change the glassware to tall drinking glasses, or even a wine glass.
