How to Change Oil on a Honda Lawn Mower
Changing oil in Honda lawn mowers will prolong the life of your mower and keep it running efficiently. Honda recommends changing oil after every 25 hours of use. This simple procedure can be performed without tools in less than 15 minutes and requires minimum skill and effort, but it will pay dividends in the life and performance of your lawn mower.

- 1 drain pan with 2-qt. capacity
- 1 qt. of 30-weight oil
- 1 clean rag
- 1 small funnel 6 inches in diameter

Run your lawn mower for a minimum of five minutes prior to draining the oil (to warm the oil).

Lower the mower to its upright position, and add ½ qt. of 30-weight oil into the dipstick tube. Wipe the dipstick clean, and insert the dipstick into the tube to the fully seated position. Remove the dipstick and check the oil level. Add additional oil if necessary to reach the "full" mark on the dipstick.

Replace the dipstick.

Insert the 6-inch funnel into the empty oil bottle, and drain the used oil from the drain pan into the bottle. Cap the bottle containing the used oil, and take it to an oil recycling center for disposal.

Tips & Warnings
Warming the oil by running the engine prior to draining the oil increases and facilitates the oil flow.
Honda mowers vary in engine size. Larger (or smaller) engines may require a different quantity of oil than that stated in Step 7. Check your owner's manual for the correct amount. Avoid contact with hot oil removed from mower.
