If your spouse cheats and you decide to end the marriage, the process doesn't have to be lengthy or costly. There are ways to get a quick divorce. Unfortunately, not everyone qualifies for a quick divorce. These divorces are reserved for couples who have reached an amicable agreement, in which they don't need the assistance of an attorney or judge.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Talk with your spouse and agree to end the marriage. To get a quick divorce when a spouse is cheating, both parties must agree to dissolve the marriage. If one party wants to contest the divorce, a quick divorce is not possible. Have an open discussion with your spouse and, hopefully, agree to sign the divorce papers.

  2. Step 2

Divide your property and debts. Ordinarily, judges or attorneys assist divorcing couples with division of property and debts. To obtain a quick divorce, discuss division of property, debts and other assets with your spouse. In other words, discuss who will keep the house, vehicles and so forth. Reach an agreement before filing divorce papers.

  3. Step 3

Determine the child custody arrangement. To get a quick divorce when a spouse is cheating, couples must also agree to a child custody arrangement before they file divorce papers. Decide on a full custody or joint custody arrangement, and create a visitation schedule.

  4. Step 4

File divorce papers online. Several web sites such as Legal Zoom allow couples to file uncontested divorce papers online. These online quick divorces don't require an attorney, and they save you money.

  5. Step 5

Go to the Dominican Republic. Take a trip to the Dominican Republic and obtain a divorce in less than an hour. To qualify, both parties must agree to end the marriage, and one person from the marriage must be present in court. However, some states will not recognize a Dominican Republic divorce. Talk with a divorce attorney in your state for advice on this issue.

Tips & Warnings
  • The state of Nevada offers quick divorces. To qualify, one member of the marriage must reside in the state for at least six weeks prior to the divorce.
