How to Uninstall a Security System & Install Norton 360
Microsoft's Firewall and Defender security and anti-malware products do not always meet users' needs. Some people find Microsoft's security offerings less robust than its competitors' offerings. You can uninstall Microsoft's Firewall and related security products, along with other ineffective software, and replace them with more robust third-party offerings, such as Symantec's Norton 360 Security Suite.

Log in as an administrator on the system on which you wish to install the new security suite.

Disable the Windows Firewall. Click Start and then click Run. Type Services.msc and press Enter.

Uninstall Microsoft's Defender. Click Start, click Settings and then click Control Panel. Choose Add or Remove Programs. Click the scroll bar on the right-hand side of the Add or Remove Programs window and scroll until you find Windows Defender. Click Windows Defender and then click the Remove button. Follow the prompts to remove the software and reboot if your are requested to do so.

Uninstall any other undesired security, firewall and antivirus products by following the same procedure as in Step 4.

Insert the Norton 360 CD into your CD-ROM drive. Follow the software prompts and choose all the default responses until the installation is complete. You may be asked, "Do you want Norton 360 to be your primary firewall?" Choose Yes. Reboot if you are prompted to do so.

Tips & Warnings
Microsoft Security Center should normally be left enabled even if the Windows Firewall is disabled. Specific products may complain about the Windows Firewall being disabled, but most warnings can be ignored because you have the Norton 360 firewall in place.
