How to Polish a Stainless Steel Sink

A clean, polished sink is a welcome sight in any kitchen. Though the sink is often a receptacle for dirty dishes, food remains and other less savory items, maintaining a spotless sink is easier than it might seem.   • Warm water

      Remove any dishes from the sink and rinse food and crumbs down the drain. If the sink is coated with grease, dried soup or other messy products, scrub it with a damp sponge until the surface is clean.

      Sprinkle a light coating of baking powder over the surface of the sink and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Then, moisten a sponge with warm water and scrub the baking soda over the surface of the sink in small circular motions. Continue until the entire sink has been scrubbed with the baking soda.

      Rinse the baking soda down the drain, using the sponge and warm water to clean the paste off of the sink's surface.

      Apply a small amount of olive oil to a soft cloth, and rub the oil onto any stains or streaks on the sink. Wipe off excess olive oil after removing the streaks.
