Inverted pleat drapes look quite elegant on their own. But add clip rings to hang them, and they'll look even better. In fact, hanging drapes with clip rings is easier than the other methods used to hang drapes. The great thing about using clip rings to install your drapes is, there's no sewing involved.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Write down how many pleats your drapes have. You'll need a clip ring for each pleated section in order to hang them.

  2. Step 2

Measure the width of your window. You'll need to purchase a special curtain rod for the clip rings, if you don't already have one installed. The curtain rods look like a pole that is either made out of metal or wood, so the rings will be able to slip onto them. They come with a kit and all the screws and hanging hardware included.

  3. Step 3

Sit down with the pleated portion of your drapes on your lap. Clip a ring onto each pleated section, until you've installed the clip rings on each pleat. Start at one end of the drapes, so you don't forget to place a clip ring on a pleat.

  4. Step 4

Install the curtain rod for the clip rings, if you don't already have one over your window. Use a level to make sure the holding hardware piece is straight. Use your drill or screwdriver and install a screw into each hole. Repeat the process on the other side of the window, making sure to measure and mark the wall, so your next hardware piece is installed at the same distance from the window as the other one.

  5. Step 5

Slip your clip rings through the curtain rod. It might help to have another person help hold the rod, while you slip the rings through. This will help in not having the drapes slip off the rod while your slipping the rings on.

  6. Step 6

Place the rod holding your inverted pleat curtains on the rod holder. Once again, another person assisting you will make the portion of the job much easier. The drapes on the rod should slip easily back and forth.
