Making a photo movie online is a popular way to share pictures with friends and family members. Such photo slide shows often incorporate music and other interactive elements to make the photos more interesting rather than presenting a static display of pictures. Learn how to upload your images to the Internet and make a photo movie online to share your images with others.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Digital images
  • Image editor (e.g., Adobe Photoshop or GIMP)

    Refining the Images

  1. Step 1

Collect the images that you wish to use in your online photo movie. Place all photographs in a single folder on your computer to make the uploading process simpler and faster. Remember that your photo movie may be viewed by anyone on the Internet. Refrain from sharing intimate images or pictures you don't want the public to view, even if you plan to only share the online photo movie with close family and friends.

  2. Step 2

Edit your photos in the image editing program of your choice. Remove unattractive elements such as red eyes and modify colors to make the photos aesthetically pleasing (for example, wedding photos may benefit from being black and white). To do this, use an image editor program such as Adobe Photoshop or a free program such as GIMP (see Resources below).

  3. Step 3

Check the size of the individual image files. Skip this step if you have a high-speed Internet connection and file size is not an issue. On Windows, right-click the image file and click "Properties." On a Mac, right-click the file and select "Get Info." If the file is large (over 2 megabytes), consider shrinking the image's canvas size or reducing the image quality.

  4. Step 4

Create an account on an online photo movie creation website. One of the largest photo movie websites that offer free photo movie creation services is Jumpcut, a Yahoo! company (see Resources below). An alternative to Jumpcut is Slide (link in the Resources section). Both offer a variety of online movie and photo editing to help you make a photo movie online.

  5. How to Make a Photo Movie Online on Jumpcut

  6. Step 1

Upload your images to Jumpcut. After logging into your Jumpcut account, click "Upload." Alternatively, click "Editor" and select "Add."

  7. Step 2

Click "Photos" to view all of the photos you uploaded. Jumpcut will automatically make an online photo movie out of your uploaded media. Click the movie to view the final product. If you want to make changes, continue to Step 3.

  8. Step 3

Click "Edit Movie" to make changes to your online photo movie.

  9. Step 4

Drag and drop individual photos in the Jumpcut editor to arrange how they are displayed.

  10. Step 5

Add audio by clicking the "Audio" tab. If you do not have any audio in your account, upload your favorite song or music clip from your computer. You must have permission to use the audio, or the clip must be copyright-free.

  11. Step 6

Click "Publish." Name your photo movie and give it a description. Set your privacy preferences (who can see the photo movie online). Type in the email addresses of any friends or family that you wish to notify. They will receive an email with a link to your photo movie online.
