How to Become a State Farm Insurance Agent

      Contact your local State Farm Insurance gent recruiter. To find the recruiter nearest you, call 1-866-405-9813.

      Complete an agency questionnaire. This questionnaire helps determine if you will be a good fit as a State Farm Insurance agent. If approved, you will be able to proceed.

      Attend a 1-day seminar known as "career understanding." This seminar will help explain the day-to-day activities and expectations of an agent.

      Participate in a panel interview with the executive approval committee (EAC). Prepare to present your business proposal at this interview. The EAC will decide if you are approved to go to the next level.

      Review open agency positions on a weekly basis. Once you find one you are interested in, request to be interviewed for the position.

      Complete a paid internship once you are hired into an agency position. This internship will last 6 to 9 months. During the internship, you will go through training and obtain necessary licensing to become a State Farm Insurance agent.

      Become appointed as an independent contractor agent for a period of 12 months.
